Meet the Team
Roles & Responsibilities –
My primary role in the team is PLC Engineer where I work at the heart of the contruction of control systems. As well as PLC Engineer I also hold a secondary position as Administrative Coordinator. My responsibilities range from the organisation of team documentation to being the main point of contact for the team email account. A high level of communication and interaction with both Simulation Engineers and PLC Engineers is also required for this role.
Key Strengths –
These include data collation and analysis, delivery of professional level written reports, the ability to confidently verbally present material as well as experience on numerous software packages.

Roles & Responsibilities –
I am a PLC Engineer working on the programming and coding of virtual PLCs. This role requires expert knowledge of the tools within Process Simulate used in the creation of control programs as well as providing technical support to the team. My secondary role within the team is the Project Planner. My key responsibility within this role is to document and control the project timescale. In addition to this I must recommend and implement modifications which will improve the team’s effectiveness and allow us to attain the project’s milestones.
Key Strengths –
My teamwork and communication skills have been continuously improved during previous projects and extracurricular activities. I will be able to utilise my efficient organisational skills in my role as project planner and channel my focus and drive when developing my knowledge in PLC programming.

Russell Weir
Simulation Engineer & IT Consultant
Roles & Responsibilities –
My primary role within the team is Simulation Engineer managing the construction of virtual work cells using the Process Simulate software. Involved are all movements of the virtual factory including robotics, fixtures and parts along the assembly line. I hold a secondary role of IT Consultant. Through this, I am responsible for all maintenance of the group website as well as team resources such as email and software installations.
Key Strengths –
Through previous projects, I have become proficient in specialist software used in industry. I hope to bring this value to the group in efforts to create professional simulations of a virtual factory. My key skills include working in a team and leadership which I hope will be further developed during my period as group leader and interaction with the PLC Engineers.
Roles and Responsibilities –
In my current role as Simulation Engineer, it is my responsibility to contribute to the creation of the 'digital factories' within the Process Simulate software. This role has given me the opportunity to get an in depth understanding of the software we are using utilising this knowledge to assist in the development of complex simulations from CAD models. In addition, my secondary role as Risk Assessor has allowed me to feed information to the team relating to any potential set-backs we might face. This has allowed us to plan ahead and implement mitigation action for these risks.
Key Strengths –
In this role my ability to communicate accross all levels of the team has been effective in ensuring all team members are aware of the risks the project faces. My strengths in using engineering software tools such as CAD packages has also been invaluable throughout this project.
