Moving forward...

The team has again worked consistently to enhance the understanding of the Process Simulate software. Through knowledge exchange meetings, all team members shared their experiences to ensure an equal understanding. This breakthrough of the week was a functioning simulation of a weld operation which the team had previously been unable to operate.

Implementation of the PLC coding did not take place this week as further background research was required. This has now been completed and the team are ready to experiment with PLC programming directly within the Process Simulate software. Given only a single laptop with the software installed, distribution of resources proved difficult. This has since been resolved with the implementation of an additional workstation which should improve the workflow of the team in weeks to come.

A techinical difficulty encountered by the team was a software upgrade from version 10 to version 11. This was required due to functionality problems within the license for version 10. Since the upgrade, existing projects are no longer accessible due to restrictions outwith the control of the team. The team however do not see this as an issue given the knowledge gained from all previous weeks within the software. It should now be possible to create a factory layout from scratch.

Finally, week 4 was a big week for Jamie within the team. This was his last week as team leader with Ryan taking over for the second phase of the project. A team review was conducted with all peers evaluating the performance of other team members. This was concluded with a detailed team-lead handover between Jamie and Ryan. We wish Ryan all the best in his new role in the weeks to come!
